LAGOS ISLAND FIRE INCIDENT: LASBCA SEALS PLAZA

… To conduct Integrity Test on Building

Following the recent fire incident at Brasas Plaza at 43, Martins Street, Lagos Island, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) Enforcement team has sealed and cordoned off the building to prevent any form of activity around the Plaza.

A statement signed by the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, said the team also attempted to remove the affected parts of the structure but was unsuccessful due to the thermal intensity.

He added that the team was, however, able to trim a portion of the rear wall and prevent it from collapsing and endangering residents in the area.

Arc. Oki also confirmed that a Non-Destructive Test will be conducted once the affected floors have been removed, to confirm the structural stability which will determine the next line of action.
